Sowerby Walkers and Ramblers

Sowerby Walkers and Ramblers are a friendly, community-led group who come together to explore the beautiful landscapes of Calderdale and beyond 🌿

They offer a varied programme of walks, from gentle, sociable strolls to more challenging routes, making it easy for people of different abilities and experience levels to get involved. Whether you’re new to walking groups or a seasoned rambler, you’ll find a welcoming atmosphere where people look out for one another and enjoy the journey as much as the destination.

As well as the physical benefits of being outdoors, the group creates space for connection, conversation, and a shared appreciation of nature. It’s a great way to build confidence, discover new routes, and feel part of a supportive community while spending time in the fresh air.

Heart of the Pennines

This group don’t organise walks, however they do offer lots of published walks – all day routes, bus walks and short strolls. Some of them will be themed routes such as heritage, nature and landscape (some have audio visual guides, some have information boards on the route)

Wheelchair-Accessible Walks

Calderdale offers several excellent wheelchair-accessible walks, ranging from town-centre strolls to woodland tracks and nature reserves. Top options include the wide estate track at Hardcastle Crags, the flat paths at Cromwell Bottom, and level trails at Ogden Water
